Harry's Cafe de Wheels, an absolute Sydney treasure. Many Sydney siders remember that first occasion when they tucked into a pie with mash and peas at Sydney Harbour. Yes, you know the one. From that area that begins with W, and yes, that area that many journalists also struggle in spelling. Their stores have expanded since, and even include outer Sydney suburbs such as Liverpool.
Tasting the chicken curry pie with some mashed peas
At some Sydney functions, you might be fortunate for Harry's to come to you. That is what happened to yours truly on two occasions in the last couple of months. Their pies will fill you up. Even better, they're 100 percent organic.
Too many choices, yet being 100% organic, you can't go wrong.
Tucking into a chicken curry pie with mashed pies and a glass of red wine was just heavenly. No bloated feelings. Same with the spicy beef pie. The great relationship is already beginning. If you're offered a hot dog, devour that just as enthusiastically without looking too socially awkward. A party pie sausage roll will also be manna from heaven when at a sporting event. Try ten-pin bowling at Strike at King Street Wharf. If you're attending a function there, Harry's pies might be there, and so will their sausage rolls.
Sydney party goers are spoilt right now
They're that delicious, however don't take my word for it. If history does not necessarily repeat itself, then it most certainly rhymes. Think back to the 'Great Depression' era of the 1930's - Harry's were around then. Rupert Murdoch once arranged for a shipment of Harry's pies to LA for a function. Amazing. Sydney is so incredibly lucky on the organic pie scene. Love it.
