Jamaica Blue, Castle Towers

Over the holiday season, shopping malls and the streets were transformed, embracing the festive spirits and inviting us to dig in to our pockets. It sure was the season to be Jolly and shopping. The food court mayhem in shopping malls is what usually dampens my happy go lucky shopping spirit. After a marathon run of shopping, I surely want to sit and have a cuppa - but where? Most certainly not in a mall food court where you have to scan the perimeter just to find a seat, and even when you do spot that single seat across the room, you are most certainly being beaten by a teenager whose better at maneuvering through the chairs to find his way to fill that one seat you were heading towards.

The only possible way I find in which I could avoid the struggle in food courts altogether would be to sit at one of the overpriced fancy cafes that’s strategically placed in front of every major outlet. But I found an exception to this overpriced option in Castle Towers where I happened to just walk past a busy but pleasant looking café just in front of Target. The café is aptly named Jamaica Blue for the popular varieties of Jamaican coffee they serve.

The dishes served at Jamaica blue are rather simple but quite flavoursome. I had started off on my shopping quite early, so my pit stop was for a cuppa and some brunch. This I found quite satisfyingly in the mini breakfast frittata I chose. The frittata itself was quite tasty, but the taste was complimented by the chilli jam that came as a side. But if I ever get to return to Jamaica Blue in Castle Towers, I would most certainly go just to have that amazing chai latte they serve.

The café is spread across quite a large area; therefore you're guaranteed to get a place to sit without having to watch the area like a hawk waiting to grab a seat when one becomes empty. The service staff are young, and I am sure they should be told that a smile is a part of the hospitality business. I have no complaints about the promptness in which my food was served. This surely is a place of a difference when it comes to cafes in shopping malls.
