Tucked away in a side street of Stanmore is Paper Cup. A very cute, modern and stylish little café we stopped in for a quick shot of coffee before a day full of shopping.
We arrived at the tail end of a very busy morning full of customers all getting their morning dose of caffeine. The red brick frontage with retro style chairs and tables were simple yet inviting. Personally I always opt for the outdoor option, however in this case the inside was quite lovely with its décor and bright atmosphere. Walking in the space inside was by no means a large area. It was long and narrow with seating along the front window or up at the counter on the high stools. The entire back wall was concrete and bricks covered over with a glass sheet. The effect was stunning. With a mural on one wall and lights hanging from red cord, this quaint little coffee shop is really cosy.
Although we had only stopped in for a coffee ($3.50), Paper Cup also provides a variety of food products. With a selection of breads, they have your standard breakfast toppings of jam, peanut butter and vegemite ($4) - as well as rolls with the following fillings: ham and scrambled eggs with tomato relish and pecorino cheese ($8), and Haloumi and scrambled eggs with eggplant ($8). There was also a small range of cakes and cookies available.
It's a great little place in a quiet street, and has ample parking. They serve a range of food that is simple and delicious, as well as being quite reasonably priced. Add to that a lovely blend of Alchemy coffee, and Paper Cup might soon become one of your favourite little coffee shops.
