Silver Spur Penrith is absolutely the ideal place for that ardent meat lover. How could a carnivore not be tempted by a stack of juicy sticky ribs and BBQ wings? Or that true authentic taste of a T-bone steak?
Nestled in the busy hub of Penrith quite close to the CUA stadium, home of Penrith Panther; this ranch style steak house is quite the popular joint among families who come for a meat centred feast.
The restaurant itself is quite unique in appearance with the Aztec and American Indian theme spreading all around.
With the separate booth like seating arrangement inside, you would face no issues with space. The setting does create a feeling of privacy, even though you are in the midst of quite a lage crowd.
The menu offered a wide range to chose from. Burgers, ribs and chicken combos to nachos and fajitas - you name it they've got it.Though the ranch caters largely to meat eaters, vegetarians should not be in despair as there are several vegetarian options included in the menu.
The portions are quite large. The two portions of ribs and wings we ordered were more than enough to feed four adults in our group. This might not be the case for everyone thoughm for we did witness blokes at nearby tables gulping down whole plates full of ribs and chicken wings.
The Spur has not forgotten their little customers. On top of colouring pages and their kids menu, Spur has a dedicated kids play area which is quite visible to many of the booths. This close proximity definitely puts parents at ease. Making in even better for the kids or maybe for the parents; kids get to eat free at Spur on Mondays and Tuesdays.
The staff are quite friendly and prompt in taking the orders. But be warned that there could be a rather long wait between the entrees and the mains. I am not sure if this is intentional giving time for the somewhat filling entree to settle in before they bring the mains out, but it does get a bit overwhelming when your kids start noticing heaped up plates of ribs being served to nearby tables, and hence wonder out loud how come our meal is getting so late.
Silver spur is, without a doubt a popular hang out. It is always advisable to make a prior booking rather than just turn up.
