That filling lunch.
Does anyone remember
The Lansdowne Hotel burning to the ground just over 12 months ago? The Phoenix Diner has become a re-birth. A true revolution, and a place for a cheap feed for Sydney uni students.

The homely ambience
The ambience can be a bit hit and miss. The main area exuded a really weird smell, yet I loved the old school rustic feel. I ordered a Lemon Lime and Bitters, as well as a Vegetarian Burger. The staff member told me to wait, as she needed to find me a buzzer. All good, and I was expecting to pay more for my burger and drink; yet for only $9 a pop - my veggie supreme also came with some thick cut fries.

The main bar downstairs
At the main bar, you can also help yourself to some water in patterned latte like cups. Meanwhile, my buzzer goes off. The penny dropped - I had to head upstairs. Luckily I got my drink downstairs, as the main cocktail bar is (apparently) only open for dinner.

A rustic table
There is ample space to sit. It feels like a classical American style restaurant with friendly staff. There are even a few lounges to perch yourself on. Loved the Christmas infused fireplace. The green walls might strike a chord with a few people, yet it's not everyones cup of tea.

About to tuck in, with my drink in tow.
Loved the drink, and cool tunes were playing in the background. The main filling was like a healthy, moist frittata with ample zucchini. The coleslaw infused salad (without the sauce) blended in nicely. There was a bit of haloumi cheese thrown in. Not sure how that would blend in with the frittata; however it certainly hit the spot. Could also taste some guacamole and aioli in there too. Quite a good dish, and extremely filling with the chips. They were cooked just right. Also loved the subtle brioche style bun.

Plenty of space
That is lunch and dinner covered for one person for a day. Highly recommended, and they have great $10 dinner deals every Monday to Thursday. Why cook when you can eat on the cheap here.
