Can't wait to get stung
Sure, Sydney we are a
cocktail loving city after all, yet what about this new cocktail trend: the jam jar cocktails? Once upon a time, jam jars were only used for that purpose, and also as a spare jar to tip our coins into.
The iconic jam jar has become a revolution. At certain cocktail bars such as
Red Lily in Darlinghurst; people who normally go for other types are getting vastly addicted to the jam jar cocktail variety. Interesting. At Red Lily, expect a fairly healthy twist with a insane (still maybe lower key) amount of alcohol. Jam jars now guarantee hangovers when drunken to excess, and of course depending on you and your body; however they come with some healthy stuff. Mint and lychee, and also lemons have made their way into such jam jar cocktails in Sydney.

About to get stung by a cool bee
Moving away from the harder hitting cocktails at
Helm Bar this time around, some way was made for cocktails that don't burn your wallet or your palette as much: alas, the jam jar cocktails. Enjoy them with their fresh, hot pizzas (especially the peking duck...mmmm), and you're in jam jar cocktail heaven.
Then again, it's a Sydney bar trend.
Glad I got stung by a bee at Helm Bar recently. Although the sting wasn't as sharp as a bees, and with their Bee Sting cocktail, you might get stung in a pleasant way, depending on how much you have/want to drink. Of course, honey would be the main ingredient, and it is. Add honey, and did I say "sweet Jim Beam honey bourbon mixed with agave nectar?" Sweet sting? Oh yes. Apple juice, mint and lime also contribute to this more pleasant Bee Sting for $12 a pop. That's the jam jar.

Cool jam jar
Otherwise their Tom Collins jam jar cocktail (again $12 a pop) is lemony as. You might (actually you would) be forgiven for thinking (or being hypnotised) that you're drinking an old fashioned lemonade in a jam jar, and of course there's gin in the mix. Beautiful "jam" gin and tonic. At Vivid Sydney time, feel like a kid who has just purchased one of those traditional lemonades at a mobile stand, yet multiply that by 12.
There you have it Sydney, let's enjoy those jam jar cocktails. Feel free to share any other jam jar cocktails that are hot out there, and where they can be sought?

Thank you Tom Collins for the lemon jam jar concoction
