Chocolateria San Churro Chatswood
One of my favourite gluten free drinks, the peanut butter besos.
As a diagnosed Coeliac, I've long ago come to the realisation that I'm very lucky to live in Sydney. Gluten free food abounds, and many eating establishments are well versed in cross contamination issues. One thing that is a little more difficult though is finding safe to consume beverages. Many places seem to forget that drinks can contain gluten, too. Not so with
Chocolateria San Churro in the Chatswood Westfield - which is my new favourite chocolate café.
Their famous churros, coffee and shakes.
Cones that look too pretty to eat. Almost.
Chocolateria San Churro is famous for their Spanish style chocolate, coffee, churros (served with a choice of melted milk, white or dark chocolate) and dessert-style drinks, and it is these drinks, and the 'GF' on the menu that marks them as gluten free, that caught my attention. I couldn't wait to go there and try one, and when I did, I couldn't wait to go again for more.
When youre full you can still take something home with you.
My instant favourites were the peanut butter besos ($8.50); a shake made with salty peanut butter, real milk chocolate and vanilla ice cream, and the white hot chocolate ($5.95) which is like heaven in a cup (especially on a chilly winter's day). There are so many others I am excited to try - if I can pull myself away from my favourites though. The salted choc coconut shake, strawberry and white chocolate shake (both $8.50), and hot dulce de leche (caramel) ($5.95) are just a few of the dessert-like drinks that are top of my list.
Tubs of melted milk, white and dark chocolate waiting to be added to desserts and drinks.
There are a number of edible treats to try as well. Many of these are not gluten free, although Coeliacs can always have the strawberries and melted chocolate, or a selection of different macarons. For those without dietary restrictions, the options are endless, and mouth watering. A chocolate volcano cake ($11.95) with an oozy centre, a crispy deep fried truffle ($5.95) or a cup layered with fresh banana, caramel and churros pieces ($11.95) - this is definitely the place for dessert lovers to visit.
Why not take home a gift for yourself or a friend
Located on one of the higher levels in the Chatswood Westfield, Chocolateria San Churro is perfect for escaping the crowds, or for a little post movie treat. With its bright and cheery atmosphere, and friendly staff, eating in is a great option, especially if you've ordered something a little messy. If you're exhausted after shopping all day though, a takeaway drink might just be the perfect option for you.
A bright and friendly atmosphere.
A delicious menu to tempt the taste buds.
Specials that sound almost too good to be true.
Plenty of tasty treats.
