Colotako Stall Chatswood Night Markets
Colotako is a stall that I have long been a fan of. I first discovered the stall some years ago while walking through Chatswood. Since then, I have been a fan of their freshly made okonomiyaki and takoyaki ever since.

Colotako operates from a food stall, which is situated on Victoria Avenue in Chatswood every Thursday from the afternoon, and in Chinatown on Fridays. Almost every time I come to buy takoyaki, a crowd of customers waiting and watching the Colotako chefs can be seen from afar. The atmosphere is generally busy, with the chefs talking in Japanese. The service is brisk, as I step in front of the cashier and place my order. The attendant at the cashier gives me a ticket stub with a number on it after I've paid, and tells me that the wait won't be long.

Just as the attendant said, the wait wasn't long. After about 10 minutes he calls out a string of numbers, including mine, and off I go with my box of takoyaki and crab balls. Takoyaki is the Japanese name for octopus balls made with flour. They are usually served with a garnish of katsuobushi (dried fish flakes), and a combination of okonomi sauce (similar to Western style barbecue sauce) and Japanese mayonnaise.
The takoyaki's insides are still very hot by the time I begin eating them. The interior of the takoyaki is hot, containing small pieces of octopus. The takoyaki is complemented wonderfully by the delicious combination of okonomi sauce, Japanese mayonnaise, and the distinct flavour of katsuobushi.

The crab balls also taste great. They are garnished with a tangy and creamy sauce, and have a creamy interior. Out of the two varieties, I can't decide which I like better. Everything at Colotako is made with precision, ensuring great quality food at low prices. I always enjoy coming to Chatswood on Thursdays just so I can grab something from Colotako. Most of their food is quite filling and would be very satisfying for a quick meal on the go.
