Edmonds Greer Cafe Oatley
Mulga Road Oatley is where youll find Edmonds Greer
Edmonds & Greer on Mulga Road, Oatley is probably the busiest, most popular café among the many in Oatley.
Delicious seasonal salads on the menu
Exactly why I’m not sure. That’s not to say that there is anything bad about the place, because there isn’t, except that it’s so busy you may have to wait for a table.
It’s just that there are other very good cafés around that don’t get as many people coming from miles away to meet there.
Hard to resist the chicken and mango salad
The reason could be that it has become very trendy among the middle-aged female set to be seen there.
Having said that, Edmonds & Greer has a lot going for it.
The pastrami sandwich on rye sourdough
First and foremost, the food is very good, and the menu is seasonal. Some of the snacks are made in the morning, so once they go, they won’t make any more. For example, the sandwiches, which are a generous size, are limited in numbers. What ever is in the window is all that is available for sale for the day.
The service is generally good, although many of the staff are quite young.
The quality of the coffee supports the rest of the menu
Their coffees will never let you down.
Edmonds Greer is also a lovely gift shop
One of the interesting things about Edmonds & Greer is that the café is blended with its own gift shop. So if you’re waiting for a table, you can browse from the lovely choice of giftware items. These include books, soaps, scented candles and home ornaments. There are also gourmet grocery items such as jams and chutneys for sale. They have another gift shop not far away.
Go for the cafe, spend at the gift shop.
If you visit their Facebook page, you’ll see that they consider themselves a gift shop first and a café second. When you visit the outlet however, you’ll see the café is far busier than the gift shop.
The location is in a quiet part of Oatley on Mulga Road. Mulga Road became a little busier when Coles opened a supermarket, despite a lot of objection, down the road from the café a few years ago. There is still plenty of parking around Edmonds & Greer, so convenience is a big factor.
Edmonds & Greer has a very nice selection of sweets, such as macarons and tarts.
