The Octopus Salad

Nestled inside a busy food court at The Star, seafood paradise is knocking for those who appreciate it the most to enjoy it. Flying Fish and Chips exceeds these expectations, and comes out trumps.

Whether you're feeling lucky, and/or you're off to see a play at the Lyric Theatre - this is a perfect place to grab a bite to eat, and sit somewhere in their glitzy food court with some sparkle.

Some prawns and oysters on display

It's simple. You order and pay at the main counter, and then you're given a pager to collect your food as soon as it is ready. Drinks can either be ordered at the main counter, or at the bar area.

I came here with a friend recently. We both were in sync, and decided to go for the warm octopus salad ($14.90 each) with oregano, garlic and chilli. Loved the fresh octopus pieces, although by the time it came to us - the octopus pieces were getting cold. Whatever dressing they used, I loved it. Quite tangy, and my friend also enjoyed her salad. The octopus pieces weren't too chewy either.

The storefront

To drink, I ordered a bottle of Santa Vittoria. My friend went for the lemon, lime and bitters. No doubt, one of the best lemon, lime and bitters she has ever devoured. It also came in a bottle.

They also sell a great range of fresh salads too

Additionally, it was nice to enjoy half a dozen rock oysters each. For both the oysters and the drinks, my friend shouted - therefore I am not sure of the price for such items. All in all the bill came to just under $60 to feed the both of us. The oysters were fresh, and came with some vinegar like sauce - of which I also enjoyed. Was not too keen on the bed of salt the shells were sitting on, and they could have put them on a proper plate for us. Proper crockery would have been great for the oysters, and not just for the salad. Otherwise a tasty dinner, although I started to become hungry a couple of hours later - and right in the middle of a great play as well. Otherwise, the food was fresh and healthy.

Also enjoyed fresh oysters
