Don’t you love it when you find something amazing when you were not really looking? That somewhere amazing was John Montagu. Nestled on a small corner at 144-146 Cathedral Street, Woolloomooloo - this is definitely the place to go for Sunday brunch; actually for any day of the week, brunch is a good enough excuse to go.

The inside is very stylish and modern. There is a large communal table for indoor eating, and several small tables and chairs set up along the outside. The menu is simple with a small selection on offer.

I chose the Caprese ($12), which was presented in an open sandwich style. This was a combination of Fiore Di Latte (cheese made from cow’s milk), cherry tomatoes and basil on toasted sourdough. Combined in a lemon, olive oil and herb dressing; this combination worked beautifully together.
There were several other options available including the Bacon and Egg Bun ($7), Mushroom ($14) which is field mushrooms with truffled parmesan, garlic and crème fraiche on multigrain bread or Beef Cheeks ($16) served with cheddar, Spanish onions and sauerkraut.

They also have a selection of pastries in store to go with your Gabriel coffee blend, which was smooth with no bitterness.

I would highly recommend a visit to John Montagu.
