La Baguette Boulangerie Patisserie Crows Nest
Some of the prettiest cakes Ive seen
Gluten free options mean you dont mind the spelling mistakes
As someone who used to live in Crows Nest, I love to look around whenever I go back and see what shops have opened since the last time I was there. And given that Crows Nest is a foodie's hub, it's a safe bet that quite often the new places will be restaurants, cafes or other food stores. My most recent find there, and one that appears to be quite popular with locals, is La Baguette Boulangerie Patisserie on Willoughby Road.
A variety of fresh breads
Located up the top end, across from grocery store Thomas Dux, the Patisserie looks from the outside like a hole in the wall. But don't let that deceive you. Step inside and you'll find a gorgeous little patisserie with plants on the floor, rustic decorations, and purple fairy lights on the ceiling. It's a style you'd expect to find on the streets of Paris, and it suits the food perfectly.
Tarts to make your mouth water
The food is rustic in look, and full of flavour. Primarily baked goods, there is an array of both savoury and sweet items to tempt you. And happily for me, a number of them are also gluten free. Options include enormous gluten free almond tuilles which would be perfect for taking home and filling with marscapone and berries, gluten free coconut macaroons, tarts, brownies, biscuits, sausage rolls, quiches, gluten free slices, eclairs and more. They have have some stunning full sized cakes which would be perfect for a special occasion.
The gluten free range is quite decent
The coffee here is really good as well. Made with care, the quality of it is reliable, and it's hard to go past the store without getting one. You can also buy yourself a loaf of bread, including rustic sourdough loaves, French baguettes, raisin, rye, seeded wholemeal, and white rolls. They don't have any gluten free breads, but I don't usually expect that from this kind of place.
So much more than it looks from the outside
As Crows Nest is one of my favourite suburbs to spend a lazy weekend wandering around, the La Baguette Boulangerie Patisserie is one that I know I'm going to get quite familiar with. I've already visited twice, and it's great to know that I can satisfy my sweet tooth cravings with something gluten free, while those I'm with who aren't limited by intolerances can enjoy even more delicious options.
