Luigis Restaurant Narellan
Luigis Restaurant entrance.
[Linkhttp://www.luigis.com.au/ Luigi's] is a traditional Italian restaurant located within the Narellan Town Centre shopping complex. The restaurant seats around 180 diners, with an option to book a private function room for up to 65. Making a booking for dinner is highly advisable as it is often very busy.
Indoor seating at the restaurant.
I visited Luigi's for a birthday dinner and was seated in the back end of the restaurant. We sat across three large tables, but it was quite cramped and particularly noisy. The staff at the restaurant were polite, but struggled with taking orders for such a large group. It took a long time for our meals to arrive and our drink order was taken incorrectly twice.
Luigis mixed entrée platter.
We shared a mixed entrée platter ($54.90) between three people and chose the zucchini fritters, salt and pepper calamari, pork belly and stuffed mushrooms. The entrée platter offered a great solution to the difficult task of choosing just one dish from the menu and it definitely didn't disappoint. The pork belly, accompanied by a sweet and crisp raspberry and apple chutney, was the highlight of the platter.
Swiss prawns with arborio rice.
Shortly after we finished the entrée platter, our mains arrived. I chose the Swiss prawns ($27.90), which were sautéed and finished with a light curry cream sauce. The dish was served with arborio rice. I enjoyed the prawns, but found the curry cream sauce overpowering with the subtle seafood.
BBQ calamari and mixed leaf salad.
My partner ordered the BBQ calamari ($26.90) and I must say, this was the biggest disappointment of the night. The calamari was tough and stringy and the salad was absolutely swimming in balsamic dressing. Unfortunately this rendered it inedible, so it was only fortunate that the entrée platter was so tasty.
Had I only ordered an entree, my rating would have been much higher. The mains really ruined the experience for me, so I can only recommend visiting in a small group and ordering from the entrée section of the menu to avoid disappointment.
