Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt Bondi Beach
Outside Orange Leaf at Bondi Beach
Yogurt is yogurt, right? It is until you taste the most delicious frozen yogurt in Sydney, and once you do you won’t go anywhere else. There I was walking along Bondi Beach when I saw a bright orange sign that read ‘Orange Leaf Self Serve Frozen Yogurt.’ Being a fan of yogurt and never having seen this store before I had to stop.
This froyo establishment has a lot of potential
I was immediately drawn in by the bright orange, white and green colour scheme. The shop was bright, open and clean. There were orange and white lounge style chairs for eating in, unless you chose to take away. Orange tiles and light green walls gave it a fresh, summery feel.
Where the magic begins to happen
Orange Leaf originated from America and is very new to Australia. With two stores in Melbourne and the one and only NSW store at Bondi Beach, I can guarantee you that once people start getting a taste of this amazing frozen yogurt; I am certain it won’t be too long before we see many more of these stores around Sydney.
Chocolate froyo
We were greeted by Yahya the owner and Santana, the Store Manager. They were so friendly and fun, their welcoming nature made the store fun to be at. Yahya gave us a run through of how the store works and all the flavours available. His enthusiasm was infectious. He was so proud of his products, and I can tell you that after sampling several of the flavours he had every right to be proud. My first taste was the chocolate caramel yogurt. It was fresh, smooth and creamy with a really sweet flavour without being overly sweet. To be honest it didn’t even taste like your traditional frozen yogurt. It was more like gelato, with a really nice taste. Next I tried the classic tart. This certainly packed a punch, once it hit my mouth it was like, wow. I have to admit though when it does come to yogurt I can only imagine fruit flavours. I tried the strawberry one and this to me was just beautiful. It tasted like real strawberries, and it smelled like real strawberries. It was fresh, cold and absolutely full of flavour. This was my favourite. For those who are lactose intolerant, there was also a pineapple and orange flavoured lactose free yogurt. We tasted the orange and it was really lovely. Depending on your taste though, there were plenty of flavours on offer. These included chocolate hazelnut, grapefruit, cookies and cream, gingerbread man and plenty more.
So many flavours
Orange Leaf prides itself on using only fresh quality ingredients to provide you the customer the best product they can. The unique taste of their yogurt begins with the yogurt itself. They use three types of yogurt as their base before adding their flavoured ingredients. They use a tart based yogurt, a vanilla based yogurt and a chocolate based yogurt. Add to that a combination of fresh fruits and flavours, and you have an unbelievably delicious snack.
Some of the fruit toppings
This however is not your ordinary frozen yogurt store. This was more like a self serving birthday party with all the goodies just waiting for you. When you walk in there is a stand with cups for you to take. Along the left hand side of the store were the yogurt dispensers full of an assorted range of flavours to choose from. It was then up to you as to how much or how little yogurt you wanted.
Some of the sweeter toppings
Choosing and serving the yogurt however was just the beginning of this experience. If you are taking the kids; are a big kid at heart or health conscious; there is something for everyone at the help yourself toppings bar. Along the back wall of the store were two sections. One was full of the freshest looking and smelling fruits such as kiwi, strawberry, pineapple and rockmelon to name a few. The other section was full of chocolate treats which included bananas, freckles, sour worms, hundreds and thousands as well as marshmallows. This was the best part and the kids absolutely loved the entire experience of pouring and serving themselves with the added bonus of lollies on top.
Wonderful customer service
Once you were happy with your final choice you had it weighed and paid according to the weight of what you had served yourself. Served with a cool orange spoon, this was the perfect summer nights treat to take with us on our walk along the beach. I would really recommend a visit to Orange Leaf and make sure you take the kids, they will love it.
