Ramen Ikkyu
Turned out to be a good chicken ramen
For starters,
, the home of quality ramen in the city, is tucked away inside one of the city's most busiest Asian food courts. What do you mean by 'food courts,' you might ask?
That's right. At Sydney Food Lovers, we don't only just cover restaurants, with a focus on newly established foot hot spots in Sydney in particular. We also want to cover food courts. We get you. We understand that you don't have the time, inclination or otherwise to always eat out at fancy restaurants.
One busy street style food court
The food court at Sussex Centre, 401 Sussex Street in the city is now home to quality ramen dishes. You'd be lucky to find a table, and it is amazing to see a place with only Asian fare all under the same roof. Many (of the staff) are speaking to you for their business. The counter feels like a fast food restaurant, and speaking of which, the food you receive here is 'fast food' in terms of service speeds, yet not on quality.
It is all touch screen related. There are two touch screens at the counter, so two people can order at a time. A couple of picks are recommended, and there is a choice in the different ramen dishes available, from plain to seafood.
You get used to these flavours
Opted for a chicken soy based ramen with eggs ($10.50), and was not disappointed. Usually some ramen dishes are too filling, or go too overboard on the noodles, and/or on the soup. Could have done with a little less miso soup, however the eggs were delicious, and so were the vegetables. The noodles also hit the spot, and so did the seaweed. The chicken tasted a bit chewy at first, yet devour it to appreciate, and you will not feel bloated at the end. Maybe a little sleepy still, yet not over full.
Once your number is called, collect your food on your tray, and be positive that you will find a table...somewhere inside this busy food land of Asian dishes galore. Also, condiments such as garlic and chilli come free here, and ask staff about some free 'kaedama.' That's a surprise. state that their noodles have no MSG in them, and are hand made.
Outside
So full, had to leave some behind. The best ramen one has tasted in Sydney, in a long, long time. Thank you so much for opening up shop recently, .
