Ripples Chowder Bay

Ripples Chowder Bay

After a marathon Christmas party run in various different venues with various different menus, finally I came to one which I had not a single complaint about. The venue was great, and the menu was excellent. With many boxes ticked Ripples at Chowder Bay hands down became the best Christmas party venue for me this year.

No 1 in my Christmas party venue list

We began our evening mingling with the guests, drinking bubblies and savouring canapés while marvelling at the breathtakingly beautiful water views of Clifton Gardens Beach.

We could have spent more time drinking and mingling, but as the sky changed its hues we slowly made our way to the cozy dim lit private dining area for our own private party. Christmas spirit unmistakably was all around us, with the table décor and the light music playing in the background.
And did I mention the views? The magnificent water views continued on to please our eyes and our minds; even from the inside of the dining hall as platters of delicacies started arriving at our table one after the other.

First in were the tastes. I could not resist but continue to gulp down pieces of focaccia bread dipped in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The herb butter and the warm olives that came with the platter only complimented the focaccia that was handmade by the chefs on the day just for us.

For a moment I was at a loss as to which starter of the three given in the menu to choose from, but ended up with the serving staff’s suggestion of seared scallops.
Do waiters call you "Madam” anymore? Ripples staff do. Everyone there is eager to please and very pleasant to speak to. Going back to my choice of scallops; the scallops indeed were, as informed by the kind young man who served us "to die for." Well-seasoned scallops were laid on a large white plate. Underneath them laid a divine sauce of pee puree, and to top it all off with a garnish of quail eggs. Definitely eye pleasing and of course full of taste.

Papperdelle with braised lamb ragu, oven roasted barramundi and char grilled beef tenderloins; what a line up, and what a hard decision to make.

Fortunately I could taste test at least two of the three mains as my neighbour at the table was eager to try my choice of main as I was of his. Both dishes were excellent in taste and just enough in quantity.

What a fitting end the desserts were for our magnificent meal at that amazing place. As I dipped my spoon in to the creaminess of the passionfruit panna cotta, I could feel the perfect consistency and texture of the dessert. The silky smoothness; the right firmness and that essential wobble of the panna cotta only spoke of the excellent culinary skills of the chefs at Ripples in Chowder bay.
