Sugar Raes Sutherland

The growing population of the Sutherland Shire has brought an influx of new cafés and bars throughout the suburbs. In the heart of the Shire, in Sutherland itself, stands Sugar Rae's.

Sugar Rae's boasts coffee, breakfast rolls, a sandwich bar, freshly made pastas and quiches, and perhaps, what they're best known for, their famous burgers.


You could easily walk past the cosy establishment without a second glance - a simple black and white sign blends in with the surrounding stores. Also, keep in mind that there's minimal seating at this small suburban eatery; with only a few tables and chairs both inside and outdoors - so takeaway may be your best option.



The burgers are affordable, generous in size (available in a combo with a can of soft drink and serving of chips for an extra $3), and come in chicken and beef varieties ($8 - $11.50), with a vegetarian option - the Mediterranean burger featuring a zucchini fritter ($8.50).


The burgers are only available during the week but that's not to worry - the breakfast rolls make a perfect weekend breakfast/brunch. Served on a fresh Italian roll, the double egg, bacon, avocado, tomato and cheese roll ($7.90) is the perfect accompaniment with a caffeine fix.


A large cappuccino will only set you back $4 and despite how busy it can get on weekends, the service at Sugar Rae's is always relatively fast and efficient.
