Sydney Food Lovers March Roundup
It's new, it's interesting and it's very exciting - welcome to our first ever Sydney Food Lovers Monthly Round-up.
March on Sydney Food Lovers has been particularly interesting with reviewers staking out a variety of exciting places, old and new, for you to experience. Quality was especially high this month with some great foodie finds from all over the city.
With summer wrapping up a few of our reviewers took the opportunity to enjoy some ice-cream and bid the season farewell - thus we experienced a bit of an ice-cream influx this month (pretty sure we're not hearing any complaints though?).
Anyway, we hope you enjoy your first 'new,' 'interesting' and 'best' monthly wrap-up. Now get out and sample some of this month's tasty treats.
The Interesting
Aqua S
You had me at tiramisu and caramelised popcorn. Ice-cream is always delicious, but add customisable toppings and we feel like we're 5-year-olds at the window of a Mr Whippy van. Check out our reviewer Kayll's very unique sea salt and tiramisu swirl cone with toasted marshmallow and caramelised popcorn.
This ice cream speaks for itself. Really what more can I say I mean look at it.
Gelato Messina
In another last hurrah for ice-cream and summertime, one of our reviewers sampled Gelato Messina's range of classic Italian ice-cream and experimental flavours. Their new store is in Westfield Miranda, which means patrons can have a great snack after a day of shopping. Look out for their make-it-yourself dessert bar and limited edition flavours.
Sweet and decadent, or fresh and fruity With almost 40 flavours, picking just one is nigh on impossible.
Bread & Circus Whole Foods Canteen
The canteen in Alexandria is an unusual dining experience. The vintage interiors are the backdrop for social dining with a range of options. The relaxing atmosphere is fantastic and the seasonal nature of the menu is refreshing in today's modern all-year-round harvest restaurant environment. In other words, you can drop by to relax, have some delicious fresh foods and maybe meet some new people.
With an everchanging menu, youre sure in for a surprise at Bread Circus.
The Best
(as rated by our reviewers)
Short Black Espresso
Rating: 9/10
Short Black has the most important thing taken care of – their delicious coffee. Pair that with a range of tasty breakfast and light dining options and you have a perfect neighbourhood destination for a lazy weekend. Look out for that refreshing mango and lychee crush and some lovely Instagram worthy coffee art created by the friendly staff.
This chia bowl is gorgeous, delicious and good for you what more could you want
Pagoto Ice cream and Waffle House
Rating: 9/10
Completing our ice-cream trilogy is Pagoto Gelato and Waffle House, a relatively new offering with lots of edgy graffiti on the walls sporting a very Grease-esque vibe. Despite this association, the ice-cream is actually amazing and those waffles aren't far behind. The classics compete alongside experimental ice-cream flavours, many with a decidedly Hellenic feel. The best part is the staff are willing to provide free samples of any flavour you want.
A freshly made waffle with mixed berry coulis and a scoop of that delicious French vanilla icecream.
SparQling Mediterranean
Rating: 10/10
Part of a local chain of a restaurants, SparQling offers up a relaxing casual dining experience and great Mediterranean inspired food at relatively cheap prices.
You cant go wrong with a classic done right.
