The Munoosh Shop Macquarie Fields

Macquarie Fields and its surrounding suburbs are not known for their culturally diverse food offerings. The area is over-saturated with Thai and Chinese restaurants with a limited range of options outside of these.


The Munoosh shop is a welcome addition to the Saywell Street strip, which was previously home to just two bakeries, a fish and chip shop and the Cheesecake Factory. Open for just over a week the small takeaway offers an array of pizzas, pides and of course, munoosh.

It's clear the business is still finding its feet with long wait times and hours of operation that aren't yet set in stone. Unless you call ahead, expect even the smallest of orders to take around 30 minutes to be prepared.

Despite the long wait, staff are very friendly and the food is both tasty and reasonably priced. You can pick up a zaatar pizza for as little as $1.50 and it is cooked fresh while you wait. The menu isn't extensive, but there's enough variety to keep everyone in the family happy.



I ordered a Cheese and spinach pide ($3.50) which was so flavoursome it made my mouth water. Served in crunchy, sesame covered triangles of pide, the filling was a mix of cheeses, spinach, tomato and onions.



I then tasted one of the shop's namesakes, an oregano and veggie munoosheh ($3.50). The bread was deliciously flavoured with oregano and wrapped around a salad of onion, olives and tomato.



My journey into tastes of the Mediterranean ended with a few bites of a folded cheese pizza ($3.50). If you have a chance to visit The Munoosh Shop be sure to try a few menu items to get a true sense of what's on offer here.
