Tuk Tuk Burger Company Hunter Valley
Some say burgers are better at large scale fast food joints, but I say burgers are the best at the Tuk Tuk Burger Company in the Hunter valley. Our discovery of this burger company actually happened by accident. On our recent visit to the valley, we drove over to the Tempus Two Complex, only to gather some goodies from the Smelly cheese shop and to then head off on a picnic. Quite by chance we spotted this little burger shop placed in an aisle area sandwiched between two restaurants. Forgetting our picnic, we all decided to try this small space which was emanating such delicious aromas.
Hunter valley is renowned for its fancy expensive restaurants. Tuk Tuk, though not as fancy as some of those, has a charm of its own: a somewhat casual, upbeat yet warm and inviting feel to it. The food they serve is of the fast food type, but the quality is second to none.
Though a bit pricey, the menu offers an extensive range of choices from gourmet burgers and deep fried goodies, to hot dogs and other seafood options. Vegetarians, do not despair for Tuk Tuk does offer quite sumptuous vegetarian options too.
One of the first we tasted at Tuk Tuk was the Chicken Bre Burger. ($12.50) This burger comes with a grilled chicken pattie with a generous slice of bre melted on top, and it is absolutely divine. To further enhance the flavours created by the marriage of the chicken and the bre; they have also added a thick layer of cranberry sauce, and a handful of healthy greens. Every bite of this burger was nothing less than delightful.
The American chilli dog ($9.00) was a perfect hit among our kids. The dog, of which is generous in portion size comes with a flavoursome chilli beef sauce topped with cheese and mustard sauce. Absolutely delicious. Our kids could not get enough of this, vowing to come back again and have the same.
The Moroccan beef burger ($12.50), a meal with so much flavour was an absolute stand out. A spiced lamb pattie is sandwiched between two halves of a soft home made bun. The sandwich hides so much of flavour inside it with caramalised onions, melted tasty cheese, tomato, cucumber, and a thick creamy yoghurt. Quite the unusual but heavenly. This is one burger I wouldn't get enough of.
It was only our first visit to the Tuk Tuk burger company, but we have become believers, and we sure shall return to try more of their awesome creations.
