Yakiniku Gyuzou Haymarket
[Link http://www.yesfood.com.au/gyuzo.html Yakiniku Gyuzo] is an authentic Japanese barbeque restaurant that specialises in wagyu beef and Japanese style tapas dishes that are designed to be shared.
Gyuzou in Chinatown.
Gyuzo Yakiniku, which means Japanese barbeque, is located on Sussex Street in Chinatown and is known for its unmarinated, or mildly marinated meat that showcases the meat's quality and natural flavour.

Cook your own dinner on the tabletop grill.
Dining is an interactive experience at Gyuzo with touch-screen ordering. The dining experience becomes even more interactive when diners are served their meats raw, along with a small tabletop barbeque on which you can cook your meat just how you like it.

We ordered a Gyuzo wagyu set meal for $59 (valued at $66.30 when ordered separately). The meal consisted of 240g of assorted wagyu, ox tongue, seared wagyu, marinated cabbage, a tofu seaweed salad, two seasoned nori rice, and cheese fondue.
Selection from Gyuzo wagyu set.
Gyuzo's wagyu set highlights all that Gyuzo has to offer and is a great choice on a first visit as it allows you to sample items that you may not be inclined to order on your own. We were so pleased with the set that we even ordered an extra cheese fondue because it was just so good.
We also ordered a side of assorted kimchi, a fermented vegetable dish, and yukke which is a dish of marinated raw egg and beef. The yukke was the only let down of this entire meal - the beef was not sliced thin enough and the texture was a little disconcerting.
Yukke, unfortunately not recommended
Although the wagyu was not of the highest quality, for the price, we were very pleased with what we received. The meat was still very tender and the portions were appropriate.
When craving tasty, well priced Japanese barbecue, I highly recommend visiting Yakiniku Gyuzo in Haymarket and sampling some of their delicious Japanese dishes.
